Community infrastructure, hospitals and places of assembly may require a Bushfire Management Statement to address the requirements of the BMO. The applicable developments may include:
- Conference centres
- Art galleries
- Halls and community infrastructure
- Places of Worship
Ecotide has experience with these assessments, having recently been involved with the assessment of a Community Centre in St Andrews. Our involvement in this project, liaising with CFA, provided an alternative solution to the proposed development that was integral in is approval.
Ecotide’s involvement in a Community Centre was integral in its approval by the Shire of Nillumbik. The development required an alternative method of assessment under the BMO, which was negotiated with Council, CFA, and the Department of Environment and Primary Industries. The alternative approach included a Bushfire Emergency Management Plan (BEMP) to detail the requirements for managing the facility, and minimise the identified bushfire risks.
